hello, and what I would like the most

Hello

I have a bunch of foogers; filter, ringmod, phaser, bass murf, cp251 and 2 x delays. I must be a fan, and its just a matter of time before a freqbox joins the gang, and i must say the murf and 201, and ultimately a second cp251 look very interesting. mostly I am feeding custom built analog synths into these - it wonderful.

but what I miss most in the fooger range is a mixer to combine several sources at the input and output stages. Not just any old mixer of course but something which could be voltage controlled. I also find the little Alesis Ampliton a very useful tool, it has murflike patterning of tremelo and panning, the only thing wrong with it is that it is not a moog and does not sound like one - and no voltage control of course. I imagine the combination of a vc mixer, vc tremolo and vc panning with multiple inputs would be an absolute killer fooger and could create many new possibilties within the existing range… I wonder if something similar has been condsidered?

Of course I could easily make a modular rack with this facilty and add a bunch of multiples too, but one thing I like about the foogers is that they are not fully modular, so I don’t have to patch up ever mixer and envelope and LFO and that I don’t have a gaziliion cables getting in the way of the knobs… I find them soooo much more inviting that my analogue systems/doepfer rack which since i got foogerised I hardly turn on and will ultimately sell

thanks for reading

Hi, what kind of custom built analog synths do you have? do you have any pics ?

cool idea! we did something similar with a doepfer system, vc controlled panning of the electric bass..
vc tremolo is in the ring modulator already… but a tool like you described would certainly be nice. a vc sequencer would be nice also!

thanks for the replies, I’d be interested in hearing others fantasy foogers too, though I have no idea how moog see the series and whether they think of extending it.

“a vc sequencer would be nice also!” do you mean a cv sequencer? like the frotswave fat controller - or this spaceship? http://www.chimerasynthesis.com/#/sm16analogsequencer/4529532144. or do you have a more sinister idea?

As well as obviously controlling VCOs and filters, CV sequencing of delays and ring mods is an interesting way to make grooves counter-melodies - its certainly something missing in the current moog range. Its nice to have programmable and variable glides as well - you just can’t do that well with midi. But maybe that is because sequencing is not so much something guitarists would be interested in? And even though the foogers are basically synth modules with can be used with anything they are somehow cunningly presented as being guitar pedals?

unfortunately, I have no idea how to up an image of my custom anlaog stuff here… i have a bunch of stuff from Tom Bugs at Bugbrand for example. Its an interesting time for that though, the internet meaning little guys in sheds can make really great and often quite insane stuff and sell it for reasonable price… strangely enough if this max MSP/Pure Data era this is proving to be a golden age for analog!

well, I meant a Voltage Controlled seq, so yes, a Control Voltage sequencer ; )

yeah, I´d like to have those sequencers mentioned, but I am going the midi->cv route, just ordered a doepfer mcv4 to so I can use my old yamaha sequencer and possibly ableton live to sequence my foogers.

not exactly sinister, but tap tempo would be nice ; )

Are yamaha and Moog compatible? I know their synths were V/Hz, but what about their sequencers? Or does it matter?

I have the qy-70 drum machine/sound module.. I haven´t figured out how I will do it yet, but I´m sure there´s a way to use the midi data this box sends out via the MCV4 with my foogers.. as I understand it, the mcv4 converts midi data to 1V/octave, so this is fine?

Yeah, that should work…for some reason I thought you were referring to CV instead of MIDI.
