Hanz Zimmer's HUGE Modular! Custom Modules?

Saw this on the BMF facebook page just a second ago. Looks like a COTK FFB on the top row there.

If you can afford four houses you can afford Hans Zimmer’s Synth.

This makes the Emerson Modular look portable.

Emo’s Moog IS portable…!

Don’t think so, it’s not the same layout as mine (C907) !

or the C914B.

That pic was on Kevin Lightner’s webpage, removed years ago. Pic is from either late 70s or early 80s, long before the COTK/MOTM/Doepfer/et al modular renaissance of today.

That system also has an interesting mix. Hans started with system he purchased from Tangerine Dream, which was an expanded Moog modular purchased from Mick Jagger. Some of the modules appear to be custom and may be from Projekt Electronik who made custom modules for TD. They do bear some resemblence to the PE modules in Christopher Franke’s system below:

More pics of PE modules:

Other than the Moog frequency shifter and modified 914 filter bank, I do not recognize the other modules in the top tier.

Next tier down is Roland 700 modules, including the big sequencer on left.

Next tier on left is a sequencer similar to the one in Franke’s system, followed by mix of Moog and PE modules. If you google “tangerine dream moog modular” you will find other pics of a similar sequencer.

Next tier there is a SCI Model 700 Programmer on top left, with mix of Moog and PE modules. Also some custom CP panels.

Bottom tier is all Roland 700 modules.

That thing must had been worse to cart around than Emo’s GX-1.

MC,
Yeah I knew that was before COTK but I was wondering about those output(?) jacks on the FFB.

Tom,
Emerson’s Moog looks far from portable though!

Love that pic of HZ:) I can’t tell by looking, but doesn’t Hans also have the largest collection of Polyfusion modules? They’re from that era…maybe there’s Polyfusion in there. Steve Porcaro had his ‘Damius’ PF system at that time and played part of the “Rosanna” solo on it (the part that isn’t CS80)…

Polyfusion isn’t a 5U format, it’s a little smaller.
