Getting a signal for Minimoog

Now that I have made a DIY cable for triggering my Minimoog, I would like to text it before spending money for MOTU Volta. Is there a way to text it with something?

you need a digital multimeter that can text for continuity…it beeps when the probes make contact with continuous wiring. touch one probe to the tip of your 1/4" plug and the other probe to the sleeve to make sure there is NO continuity (short-circuit). next, touch one probe to the tip of your 1/4" plug and the other probe to the correct blade of your cinch-jones s-trig plug (i’m not sure if it makes a difference as to which one is hot and which is ground) to VERIFY continuity (beep-beep). do the same for the sleeve of your plug and the other s-trig plug blade. texting is complete…now go and order your volta

Thank you for your reply. I’ ve already made this text, by the way: the multimeter in your picture is exactly the model I own…

For a text of the cable I meant “to make some noise from the minimoog inputting an electric signal via my trigger-cable”.
Do you know a way to make a text without hurting the MiniMoog?

you’ll need a keyboard or sequencer that outputs CV and gate signals

In order to text your DIY cable… both you and your DIY cable will need cellular telephones that can send and receive text messages. Also, these cellular telephones (sometimes called “cell phones”) will need to have active cellular service in order to successfully send/receive your text message. Once you and your DIY cable have both obtained cell phones with service that is activated then you will be ready to text.

You will need to know the number of the cell phone given to your DIY cable.

When you are ready to text, simply type the message that you would like to text to your DIY cable into your cell phone. Do this by pressing the number buttons on your cellular telephone that correspond to the letters in the text word that you are trying spell. For some letters you will need to press the same number button twice. For instance, to type the letter “B” you will need to press the number “2” button twice in rapid succession. To type the phrase “Moog is rad” you will type 6, 666, 666, 4, #, 444, 7777, #, 777, 2, 3.
That’s just an example. I don’t know what kind of text you would like to send you your DIY cable. Don’t worry about hurting your Minimoog. Just refrain from making rude or insulting comments in your text message, and your Minimoog will be just fine.

Once you have typed in your text message it is time to enter the number to which you wish to send the text. This is when you will enter the cell number of the DIY Cable’s phone. When you have finished, press “send.”
I hope this helps.

…sorry, I couldn’t resist…

Hi mtmelvin,
from where are you?
I’m from Italy and we are not so clever with foreign languages.
Actually , while writing “text”, I was thinking: “There’s something wrong” but I couldn’t get the picture.
But if I made you laughing, well, that’s good.
Laughing is very healthy!
Ciao

Am I missing something here or are you trying to ‘TEST’ the Moogs control voltage?

You got it. He is trying to test the voltage.

Ha, at first I was thinking ‘text’ must be some techy way to send special cv information to a Moog

Hi sergino,

Sorry to make a joke of your typing mistake. It was all in good fun and I meant no offense

To answer your question, I’m from the US (California) so I’m speaking my first language. And you’re English doesn’t seem too bad, actually. It’s certainly good enough to communicate.

I visited Italy about 9 years ago. It’s a beautiful country with lots of amazing buildings, art and history. And great food! I would love to go back one day.

Did your question get answered properly? It sounds like acorkos took care of you. Have you tried Volta yet?

Enjoy that Model D! I will have one too someday!
