I’d love to see a factory mod to install a switch on the Freqbox to have it drone by itself without an external device plugged into the input. Anyone else think this would be cool?
No need, it does that as is.
Certainly the Audio In with SYNC switch set to “ON” will send corresponding Audio output driven by the FreqBox’s Oscillator, but if you wire up the OSC OUT to your mixing board with nothing else attached to the 107, (preferably through an attenuator because it’s a damn hot signal), it is just that… a Drone. Frequency can be tuned via the FREQ. knob on the 107’s VCO section, and the ENV.AMOUNT knob on the upper right side of the 107, acts as a fine frequency control.
It’s a bit mundane and (as they say) unfiltered, but add a 101 and an LFO from a friendly neighborhood VX-351/Voyager or a CP-251 and you’ve got a good pulsating tone with some color.
