Free Wav to Mp3 COnverter???

Id like to upload some songs for you guys to take a listen to but I need a program that will convert the files to Mp3.

Does anyone know the names of some good ones that can be found on the Jolly Roger Style or some good freeware versions?

http://www.nch.com.au/switch/

Do you like this one?

I downloaded one before and it converted only half of the song and it was so inaudible it was a horrid mess.

Can you tell me anything about it? Is it like one of those trial based programs?

google for razorlame. Best freeware mp3 converter ever made.

That’s what I’ve been using lately, it’s 100% free and I didn’t find any issue yet

Itunes

Kinda surprised no one suggested Audicity for this. It’s a freeware, open source, cross platform app for recording and editing sounds. It will also import/export common audio file types (.wav, .aif, mp3, Ogg Vorbis).

Download it here:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Audacity is a great application but it’s not a ‘nice’ converter. iTunes works best for me, just click and convert..

I appreciate all of the responces so far. WHen I get home today Ill check the links out and see which one really does the job.

If anyone else has any suggestions too Ill certianly be grateful.

Hi Maskin,

I’m also an iTunes fan (and a Mac guy to boot!), but what did you mean when you wrote Audacity is “not a nice converter”? Is there some inherent issue I’m not aware of? I’ve used it for years and never experienced a problem..

It’s the inconvenience of opening the application and loading a track (which takes quite a long time). I should also mention the hassle of finding and installing the LameLib file the first time you decide to compress a file to MP3 or OGG. I haven’t had any issues with it but for normal user it’s not the easiest way to convert a file.

Thanks,
The Switch link worked great, and ive uploaded music already. Now that I got a good Mp3 player, ill be sharing alot of stuff with you guys now.

THanks!

Eric
