Footswitch control of envelope gate?

With my Little Phatty, plugging a Boss FS-5L Latching Footswitch into the CV Gate input enables me to hold a note indefinitely for live tweaking. Since Note Latch is not currently working in Taurus 3’s FW 1.11, I was hoping I could use the same trick with Taurus 3’s Gate input, but it doesn’t work. Anyone else tried this?

The Taurus requires an active gate voltage at its gate jack; doesn’t work with a passive footswitch. Sorry about that.

Is that different from the way that the Phatty functions?

Reason I ask is that I have a cheap-o (well… $20) M-Audio foot switch that I use to hold the gate on my LP, works great. The same pedal works on my Memory Lane II for Tap Tempo, however I also have a Boss FS-6 (dual pedal) and for some reason it WONT work on the Memory Lane. (haven’t tried it on the LP yet).

I didn’t think the Boss put out any voltage but for some reason it has a battery, perhaps to light LEDs and to do the Latch function.

Well, anyway, just wondering if somebody could explain the difference between the LP’s gate and the Taurus’s Gate.

I was going to rig up relay and diode on a board that would allow a pulse output from the MP-201 to close a standard switch so that I could control my ML2 via Multipedal switch (which also sends midi CC to my T-Rex).

Complicated but fun…

The LP provides +5V on the ring contact of the Gate jack; a passive footswitch will connect this +5V to the tip contact of the jack and open the gate. An active +5V from some other source will also open the gate.

On the Taurus, there’s no +5V on the ring contact of the Gate jack, so only an active gate voltage from elsewhere will do the trick. Not 100% sure why this choice was made, unless maybe it was to be accurate to the original Taurus.
