Am I wrong to think that a person can use a delay for flanging? I know the 104 won’t. I also know that if I wanted the flange sound real bad I could buy a flanger.
I’m just trying to get the most out of the equipment that I have. I didn’t think I would need a separate flanger if I had a voltage controlled delay.
Flanging and chorus usually make use of a modulated delay line so it’s certainly possible to use a delay unit to achieve these effects if it allows for a short enough minimum delay time. I don’t think there’s a categorically accepted cut off point, but, generally speaking, with flanging the delay time should be under 15ms, while chorus runs from 30-60ms. The other difference between the two is that flanging tends to have a higher degree of regeneration/feedback, while chorus traditionally has featured multiple modulated lines…
