Really enjoying using my Sonalksis SV517 on the Phatty’s splurgings.
So many sweet surprises in the many frequencies that are buried just beneath the audio surface.
Post some sound files so we can hear too!
I think EQ is often overlook on synths. It’s an easy way to make a synth sound more “vocal”. My old Korg Z1 had EQ built in, and I remember boosting the mids to the max would really make it sound less digital and more punchy.
I have been running my model D through my Manley Massive Passive valve EQ. Everything sounds better through it, but it makes the model D sound unreal. The only problem is it costs more than the synth itself. But I have never heard a better EQ.
I often run my LP into 2 channels of my mixer. One channel the low end is cut and the high end boosted. The other channel the highs cut with the low end boosted. Sweepable mid set on each to taste. Then I can use the channel faders to mix frequency emphasis easily on the fly. Plus the bonus of more headroom, which the phatty just seems to love sucking up.
