If I have a sequence playing on the sub 37 and modify the velocity or modulation of a step via the editor it often transposes the playing pattern by a few semitones.
Hello Paul,
I was trying to reproduce this without success. What happens if after it transposes, you save and reload the preset ? does it still off pitch ? If so, can you send me the original and modified presets ? This way I can compare the two. Thanks !
Hi Gil, I’ve attached a zip file containing the preset pre-transpose and post-transpose. I’ve also included a dump of all the midi data passing to/from the sub 37.
I get this issue in ableton live running the vst - standalone I can’t replicate it.
It should be playing C1 - C2 - C1 - C3 - as you can see, after just a few vst seq step mod tweaks, it’s now playing C4 -C5 - C4 - C6
I just tried saving the patch after it had transposed, and pressed the same preset button and it actually transposed it up another octave just now.
Something else to add - when I change the sequence steps in the editor, the hardware display doesn’t show the *'s which usually indicate something has changed.
ableton live 9.6 - OS X 10.11.2 - vst 0.9.37 - fw 1.1.16
midi track:external instrument - midi to sub 37 - local keys off on hardware
only changes being made are to the sequence step modulation for the 4 notes in the editor vst

Thinking about it, this might just be the way it is given the way notes are being sent back and forth:
Press key on sub 37 (local is off)
Key sent to Ableton
Ableton sends it back to Sub 37
Sub 37 starts playing latched sequence based on that key
Each note of the sequence is sent to ableton from the sub 37 - and then sent back to the sub 37 as a note
Somehow, tweaking the seq step modulation in the editor is causing the sub 37 to treat those returned arp notes as if I was pressing a key on a remote keyboard to transpose the sequence.
I am wondering if you have a filter in place on the sub 37 that gets bypassed if there’s a seq step mod sysex command sent from the editor that interjects between the seq note out and DAW note return.
