Hi,
I would like to know if the Sub37 will translate sysex file from its usb input into midi on its midi output.
My aim is to update a moogerfooger firmware through the Sub37.
Many thanks for your answers,
Greg

Hi Greg,
That’s a really useful idea!
Without being able to test it right now, I’d say that, if you set MIDI MENU / ECHO USB IN: to DIN, you’ve got a pretty good chance of it working.
The beauty is, if it doesn’t work, it’s not going to work at all so… no harm, no foul.
(But if it does screw up, I’ll mail you my UBS/MIDI interface.)
I’ll try tonight.
In the meantime, how can I tell the firmware version of the MF-104m?
Is there a combo to hold when booting?
Greg
The button hold combo will only show you the bootloader firmware version.
You need to send a tiny _Display_Version_MF104M_Cmd.syx file that makes your unit divulge its Firmware version.
PM me (with an email address) and I’ll send it to you.
I’ve read this « in diagonal » but I just want to say that someone performed an MF104M update through a LPSE2 once. So the Sub37 should allow to do it as well.
I confirm it, it did worked perfectly for me
!
So, what I did:
-connect MF-104m to Sub37 via MIDI cable
-connect Sub37 to Macbook Pro via USB
-set the Sub37 to replicate USB in to MIDI out as explained by Demon-Dan up here
-Put the MF in receptive mode holding down both tap and bypass while pluging it into the mains
-launch Sysex Librarian app, choose Sub37, play the three files (_Erase…, MF104…Firmware, _Factory…)
-Callibration of the knobs procédure
Result:
-MF-104m alive with new firmware (time blinks once, level blinks 5 times)
-Sub37 untouched, happy.
