Combining 2x Mf-101 to create a stereo LPF

Hi I own a good few foogers now and I love them, one of which is the MF-101 Low Pass Filter. I have been looking to buy a stereo Analog LPF for a while and was wondering if I bought a second Mf-101 would it be possible to control the cv inputs for the cutoff of both 101’s simultaneously from one control source?

Ideally it would be great if it was one knob which controlled the cutoff of both pedals.

Thanks

I would imagine using a mult would allow this although I have neither a mult or another MF-101 yet. I’m awaiting a CP-251 and was thinking of getting another LPF since I viewed PHC’s synth drone tutorial on KNOBZ.net which makes very effective use of dual LFO’s:

I may have to hold off on that extra LFO now and start saving for a Minataur however!

Yes, you could do exactly that with a multiple.

You would essentially have a similar filter setup as found on the voyager, so you could simulate spacing by offsetting the two cutoff frequencies from eachother and then sweeping your control source (for instance, an ep 2). The real advantage is that you can have something like 2 different resonance values, or send any other type of modulated signal to one which you can’t do on a voyager.

Hope this helps you out…

Eric

Thanks a million for the reply’s guys. Not to familiar with what a mult/multiple is. Will have a look at the ep2 to see what it can do.

Hi Lebrique, a mult or multiple simply multiplies a single CV control input* into two or more outputs so (in your question/example) that one CV control input can be split to control two LPF’s. The CP-251 has a mult that allows 3 outputs from one input, but there are other options like rack-mount passive (not a requiring power source) mults, or if you are handy with a soldering iron you can make your own.

From Moog Archives:

994 DUAL MULTIPLE PANEL
The dual multiple panel consists of two sets of four phone jacks. Each set of jacks has been wired together: tip to tip, sleeve to sleeve.
FUNCTION DESCRIPTION/APPLICATION
The multiple is a “device” which permits multiple distribution of one signal to several different places. This process is often called signal splitting. Multiples are used for many purposes; from linking two patch cords together, sending a single signal to several different modules at the same time, to doubling or trebling the amplitude of a signal by sending it X3 to a particular source. (sic)

Just be sure and don’t use a mult to combine cv voltages…you need a cv mixer for that.

Hey Guys, Thanks again for the Replys. You have been an excellent help! I have a Cp251 that I picked up cheap but I’ve never really used or explored it. But it does indeed have a four way multiple!!! I’ve found a second MF101 with two EP2 Pedals so I’ll probably buy that and control the the cutoff of both with an Ep2 via the Cp251. Thanks again for all the Help I really appreciate it!!!
