Can't save patches on a Poly Voyager?

Perhaps I’m missing something, but I can’t seem to save my patches when my editing is done via MIDI CC control ?
From the RME manual:
“sec 6.4 SAVE PRESET
Note: Changes made to a preset by MIDI CC’s ARE NOT saved.”

It took me a while to figure out what was going on. Every time I saved a patch I made, it was lost and reverted back to the original patch. After many hours, I isolated the problem to the Voyager not storing any of the changes made to the pots, although the switch settings were saved.

I tested this out by first using a blank memory slot and loading in the Init. Parameters patch. The Voyager w/ver 3.3, has Local Off and MIDI out patched into MIDI in, so all changes are made via MIDI CC’s. When I save a patch only the switches can be saved. For example the Default program has the release switch as off, I can switch it to on and save that. But if I try to change any pot, for example filter cutoff is 128 and change this to 255, when saved it reverts back to 128???

Anybody have any ideas how to save patches with this setup?
This setup is required to operate multi Voyagers for polyphonic playing.
Thanks!

does it have something to do with the LOCAL OFF being off to use 2 voyagers. Can you try to turn the LOCAL ON and save them on each voyager individually?

I don’t know. This is one for the man RL.

Hey Eric,
Thanks for the quick reply!
The whole MIDI note order for the poly Voyager depends on getting the note on via MIDI, so it can sort out what Voyager is the 1st, 2nd, 3rd note played. If the controlling Voyager has the local on, it will play like any monophonic Voyager. For instance holding the highest C, then next holding down an F, the monophonic Voyager will step down to that F. (As long as note priority isn’t set to high note!) This is normal behavior for a mono synth. However, in poly mode, you want that C note to hold and add in the second Voyager for the F, so you hear two notes playing. This is why the local must be off for the poly to work correctly.
And making changes on the panel is great! All of the Voyagers change the parameters together. You can hold three notes down, and change the cutoff and all Voyagres respond. I just haven’t figured out how to save these great patches yet.
But yes, I can turn the local on, after disconnecting the MIDI loopback cable, but now have to slightly tweek every knob that I changed on the panel, so it registers in the edit buffer, then I can save the patch. Then just press the send presets button, to send it to the other Voyagers. Seems like a backwards way to do it though? But this is the only way so far?

MIDI Baffles me frankly.

You and me both. All I know is how to move patches to and from my computer, and do software upgrades. :unamused:

Hi Rider,
I checked that with the new beta and storing a preset when I made changes with controllers works fine here when LOCAL is OFF.
Please send an email to “rudi at moogmusic dot de” I will send a beta to check it by yourself.
Have fun,
Rudi
