I had some bumps in the wood work of my synthesizer. I used a damp cloth and an iron on medium heat and got the bump evened out. But now I have these light stains where the bumps where. I rubbed with a walnut and I used olive oil/vinegar mix, but they are looking exactly the same. When I rub my finger over it, it doesn’t feel different than the dark parts. it just changed color
Does anyone have an idea as to how to remove them so the finish matches the rest?
… your best bet it to try and match the darker colour. That probably is a stain onto the lighter wood underneath. Maybe some coloured wax sticks may work, if not very careful use of some darker wood stain?
Olive oil for wood treatment is ok, but far better is to use linseed oil. I can’t understand why you used vinegar, as it will probably dissolve the original wood treatment.
I’m not sure if the voyager wood was treated with varnish or oil with some pigment. But as I recall, my voyager had a feeling of a thin wood varnish.
The treatment with a moist cloth and hot iron is a good one - I’ve done it several times with good results on wood that has been treated with linseed oil and/or wax. But the treatment will normally leave a lighter area because the oiled surface finish is removed. This is fixed with a new oil treatment, sometimes in several layers.
I think you should try to apply linseed oil in small amounts on the light spots. Let it dry over night, polish with a cloth and apply a new thin layer. Continue this treatment until you’re satisfied.
