Automating Little Phatty in Ableton

Hi guys,

I’ve just recieved my first hardware synthesizer - the Little Phatty Stage II. And so far I’m very pleased with the sound.

I have connected it to my PC running Windows Vista 32bit with the USB cable. The audio is hooked into a E-MU 0202 USB.

I would love to be able to automate the Little Phatty in my DAW-of-choice, which is Ableton Live 8.1.3, but so far I haven’t been able to do this. I can get Ableton to receive MIDI-notes from the Little Phatty, but when I adjust the cutoff, for instance, it doesn’t show up in Ableton or when I route the MIDI back to the Little Phatty, it is only the MIDI notes that play - no filter sweep.

Have any of you guys found a way to automate the filter cutoff or any other parameter and then being able to edit it in your DAW?

EDIT: Perhaps the solution is the Little Phatty Editor VST? Does this allow for automation of the LP’s parameters? Though, I’ve read that there are complications with the plug-in and Ableton. These are hopefully soon fixed.

I found the answer in the envelope section of the MIDI-track where the automation is recorded.

I hope I didn’t waste anybody’s time :slight_smile:

I understand that Ableton are working on their MIDI applications for the next release, but until then the only way is via the edit window. :slight_smile:
