assigning different preset sound's to the 3 oscillators

Greetings…quick question if possible …can i have 3 different presents for each of the oscillator’s??? …for instance search for a particular present and assign it to one of the 3 oscillators and so forth…much thanks

No way…

A oscillator just produces 1 waveform.

You should really read the manual to understand what all those “things” are like what a VCF does, a VCA is or what CV can do for your synth.

That is if you care about using a Voyager or any other analog synth to the fullest extent.

Who knows…maybe you just want to use the presets to make “PAHT” basslines like Dre???

Then the $3k joke is on you.

Maybe you misunderstood me …i dont want 3 different presets in the same oscillator …i want to be able to have oss #1 with a sound from bank 1 oss#2 with a sound from bank 5 and oss#3 with a sound from bank 4 and be able to mix ex down into each other …i am defiantly confused here …why is this not possible it would seem like a huge downfall to the unit in my opinion… thanks

First of all, while yes it does have presets/banks and recallability, this machine isn’t really about the ‘presets’ as it is about the sound. Most of us here would be pretty happy if ‘all’ we had was a MiniMoog Model D (which the only preset it has, is whatever you set it to when you last turned the knobs…).

Setting the options for the waveform only from different presets seems to be of limited use for building sounds. There IS in the Patch Editor software a way to “Morph” between different patch sounds I believe, however I haven’t tried it out yet. The Oscilators only have the settings of pitch, and waveform. To have sub-presets of these, would be of limited use. If you need a specific waveform, the knob is right there! I could see this being of a lot more use on a semi-polyphonic/polyphonic instrument like the Sidstation (which i happen to have here), that has a TON of settings (including wavetables, and an indivudlal ADSR per oscilator). The Mini, is just grab and turn.

Now, you CAN control the pitch of the oscilators indivudually by using the mod-busses (Thanks Amos!).

Bottom line is NO.

A patch (memory location, preset, whatever you want to call it) is made up of UP TO 3 oscillators and all the other possible settings of the Voyager (filters, lfo, etc.)

Assuming you had 3 “single oscillator sounds that all had the same settings other than those of the oscillators” - that is - the filters were the same for all, the envelopes were the same, the LFOs were the same - then you could do that and mix the 3 oscillators in at will making different sounds and mimicing the use of different “presets.”

However, it sounds like you might be a little confused about how the Voyager is architected and I too would recommend a thorough reading of the manual and maybe talking to some folks on the forum or elsewhere about accomplishing what you want using another synthesizer. It is hardly a shortcoming of the Voyager that it doesn’t work the way you describe - it was never meant to.

Hope this helps.

Maybe you should not buy a monophonic synth, but a polyphonic one with multi timbral functions. No monophonic analog synth is able to do what you are asking for. It would need plenty more hardware and a price tag way higher.

Maybe you should have read about the being of a monophonic mono timbral synth before buy a fine instrument like the Voyager or other Moogs.
