Arduino Synth

Hi everybody!

At the university Regensburg we are currently developing a new interaction concept for synthesizers! We already have some interesting ideas, so we would like to collect some statistical data. Hopefully that can help us to finally decide in which direction to go:)

Just follow the link and part of the survey;)

Thanks a lot!

The new interaction thing sounds interested. Please keep us posted.

I looked at your questionnaire, but I’m not able to reply to it for the following reasons:

Questions one and two, no problem.

Question three depends which synth you’re referring to, and also what someone’s trying to do with it. Some synths are very straightforward, while others are complex. And it depends whether you’re doing something that’s easy or difficult on a particular synth.

The same points would apply to question four. In addition, I’m not sure what you mean by `existing.’ Do you mean all synths from the Sixties to the present, or the contemporary ones currently on the market?

Question five is ok.

Question six is a problem because most people don’t just have one synthesizer. Personally, if I’m playing live, which I hardly ever do, I have something simple and portable, but I’m not likely to take other instruments I own. But someone else might easily take a system like mine on stage.

Question seven may depend on what sort of venue and what sort of music.

Question eight depends on what music is being make and how many synths someone owns. And the number of functions is less important that the kind of functions.

Question nine again presupposes ownership of only one synth. But if it’s expanded to apply to everything, it’s still an odd question because - for me, at any rate - there may be functions I use very rarely but which I wouldn’t want to be without because when the do get used they’re very important.

This is a problem with any kind of generalised question format, but hopefully these comments are useful.
