Anybody use a Gigrig to control midi Moogerfoogers?

I’m looking at purchasing a used Gigrig Pro 14 with midi. I’m wondering if anybody uses theirs to create presets with their midi capable Moogerfoogers. I’m new to the whole midi thing and don’t want to miss something.

The following info was included in a note with the controller. I assume this confirms that it won’t send CC messages? Is there a mid preset box out there that you can use to store CC presets and can be controlled by program changes?

This Special Pro 14 GigRig outputs Standard Midi codes when the foot switches are pressed. (Midi Din connector on left side). The same Midi codes are also generated in Mode 2; however, this time, when the switch are released.

Technical.

The Midi codes generated are momentary program change codes from 0-15. All three Midi bytes are output. (Status Byte is fixed 11000000)(Data Program Change example = 00000011) (Data Byte 2 is fixed 10000000).

It really a shame their documentation is lacking in the MIDI department. It looks like you should be able to use the MIDI 8 (that’s the manual I read, the 14 didn’t say anything about midi) to send CC messages. They haven’t made it clear how to, as I’m sure that’s part of how the gouge you further for moola. Their stuff is really really expensive for what you get all in one system!?

Try emailing them, they clearly want you to

Thanks for the response. It is really surprising that their manual is lacking the info. But from what I’ve gathered, it will only send PCs. I looked at the Midi 8, but that seems to have options that aren’t in the older Pro 14s with the midi mod. GigRig hasn’t responded to questions yet.

I’m looking into other options to create presets for the Moogerfoogers that can be switched using these PCs. I have an iPad with an Alesis iodock. From what I’ve gathered, it looks like I’ll need an app like Lemur or to possibly have something custom created by Disaster Area.

You would assume at that price it would contain complete Midi functionality! But, the focus is more on guitar pedalboards. There are some really initiative ideas that came from the GigRig controllers. Fortunately, I’ve found one second hand for less than half the new price. And it hasn’t been used! It will work amazingly with my setup, but I just need to figure out the Midi side because my Moogerfoogers aren’t going anywhere!

The APP TouchOSC may help. I use it for foogers, its great. Takes a bit of time to get going, but well worth it. Easy to use while playing. (better than Lemur IMO & much cheaper).

Well, I would definitely prefer going with TouchOSC because it looks much easier, but can it accept PCs from an external source than can be assigned to change patches?

Essentially, I just need a layout with all of the controls for my foogers on it. I need to be able to save presets of the values on the foogers. I would then need to assign each preset to a patch that would pull up when a PC is received from the GigRig. At the moment that a preset is loaded, it would need to configure the foogers to the presets that I created. It seems like it should be really simple stuff, but everything is a bit daunting when you’re brand new to midi.

MIDI Designer …
