*added pics* check out my moogerfooger woodgrain upgrade

Hello everyone, this is my first post

I picked this up on craigslist for a deal as one of the pots needs replacing due to being made of plastic, so keep in mind that yes, it’s missing a knob. What I did was change out the sides for some nice figured walnut (that I just found floating in some sawdust at my dad’s shop) with 5 coats of clear conversion varnish and replaced the bottom plate with plexiglass and added clear feet. Once my local shop replaces the pot for me, she’ll be up and running at 100%. For now I just use fingernails to get the mix where I want the least amount to be and hook up an expression pedal.

I have access to a shop to do more of these if people are interested. I thought of this in the first place when I looked at the sides and saw how scratched up they were and also wanted to reduce the width of the pedal so it takes up a bit less space. If you look closely, you can see the sides don’t really stick out as much now, but are slightly rounded so the middle comes out more than the sides that are flush with the top and bottom. Everyone who see this mod goes crazy over it, so I just thought I’d share with some other moog fans.

Those look pretty nice!

Do you know what would peak alot of peoples interest?

The issue that I and alot of other people are having is the fact that when mounting a Fooger in the Fooger rack shelf, the middle Fooger must have its cheeks removed.

Now, when you have the Vx351 and CP251 in a rack, they make a cheek piece that goes between them that fills in the gap. Half of it screws in the VX and the other half screws in the CP.

If you could make cheek pieces that fills in the gaps of the fooger and could still fit in the 19 inch rack space, you would probably find a lot of people would be willing to place an order.
Heres a picture of my rack so you can see what Im taking about:

Ok, so I measured the fooger with the new cheeks and it’s now just under 5.25 in wide, barely sticking out of the sides. Is that what you’re looking for? Or are you wanting a series of sides that connects all the foogers together and makes them into one long piece that’s exactly 19 in wide? My father and I can make anything and I’m going back to IA over Christmas so if there’s something specific you’d like made let me know exactly how much each side should protrude and I’ll make an upgrade kit for you that makes your pedal work a bit better.

I think what is needed is a t shaped piece of wood.

Think about a cheek piece like this. Look at my picture carefully and notice the gap. Foogers = 1, 2, 3. It will screw in the right side of 1 and the left side of 2 and it will have a raised surface that will make the foogers look like they are flush with eachother. Then the second piece will fit on the right side of 2 and the left side of 3 so when all of the foogers are together, there will be NO gap between any of them and there will be what looks like 4 cheek pieces total. The fooges will then be connected to eachother as one solid piece by the cheeck pieces and then attatched to the rack frame. I really dont know why Moog hasn’t offered anything like this already. My headphone cable all the time gets caught in the ring mods gap. This unfortunate gap also lets all kinfd of dust get in there.

Look between the CP and vx units below them. The piece of wood in the middle there screws in the CP side and the VX side as I have described above.

I have advocated for a cheek piece trade in program that lets people who want all matching cheeks trade them.
I MIGHT be interested in such a thing. I know if they look good other people might be interested because the gaps in the rack are a problem. If I get around to it Ill take some pictures of the CP 251 cheek pieces and let you see what Im taking about.

I wonder if that would really work with mine because I THINK my rack frame is bent. Loo k at my picture and it looks as if my foogers are bulging out.
