Just wondering if they’re planning to make something other than an ATA flight case. Maybe something very very padded you can carry instead of hauling?
I am afraid T3 is heavyer and bigger enough than T1.
ATA fits the purpose.
I would go for a padded carrying case like Veeger suggested - the ATA case won’t fit in my car, so I’ve just been throwing it in on top of other stuff, fortunately not too often…
I’m not really intending to travel around with it extensively - the ATA is too costly and too bulky - I would really like a super duper padded carrying case to venture out with. It’s not going out very much and very often - but I’m already using padded cases for my Minimoog and Phatty - whether or not the beast is heavy makes no difference, a step down case can be done. I’ll have it made custom if I have to.
Excellent point, I think there is a real void in this area for Taurus 3 owners. I have to schlep mine between home, drummer’s place, and gigs, but I don’t need the full-out road warrior case. It is simply too big, heavy, and pricey. But I need something other than the styrofoam box it came in which I’m surprised has held up this long. If someone comes up with a custom solution I’d definitely be interested.
Well, when the Taurus I came out back in '75 they DID offer a hardshell case for it.
I’ve got one, and while it is less protection than the T3 road case the hardshell case is easier to carry.
It’s a difficult business proposition, knowing that there are only 1000 going to be made, that 200 people likely bought the heavy duty case, than another 500 won’t buy anything and that the potential market is therefore very small.
Odyssey is pretty good at making carpet covered cases with decent latches. Wonder if they’d bite. A very flat bottom, box top, some wheels (2 like a samsonite or an SKB keyboard case) and a retractable handle should do the trick.
The magic question… how much is it worth to you? $200? Would you pay $250?
It’s worth 250 to me to get some kind of hardshell case. I don’t want to pay 500 for the road case - it’s not what I want anyway. Too much case. Not easy to move around.
i think a padded case for those who dont move their T3 too much would be a nice option
Under $100 would be even better ![]()
I’d like to cast another vote for a Taurus 3 gig/padded bag; just received mine 3 days ago, hanging with it right now, sheer delight
But there’s no way I can really utilize the ATA/flight case, practically for local gigs or recording nearby. A cheaper ATA case from a vendor like Island Cases, doesn’t really meet the need to save space when transporting the pedals in a smaller car. If Moog would rather not commit to keeping a bag like this in stock - but could instead, maybe come to some arrangement with a 3rd-party manufacturer of quality custom gig bags and give us their endorsement? that would be great. What say you?
I was thinking of the Gator G-212A case which is designed for combos, but seems to have the right dimensions (with a bit of extra foam required because of that wedge shape):
Made correctly, I would buy one. I have the road case, and yes, it is huge and heavy as hell. If someone does make a gig bag, it will need to be built with some tough materials - the Taurus are seriously heavy beasties (pricey, too), and the last thing I’d want to see is my T-3 dancing across the parking lot because of bag failure. Funny, I gigged for over a decade with my PK-5s - no case or bag - and never worried once about them, yet I can’t conceive of taking the big bad bull out of the house without SOME kind of protection.
I think I am going to have a go at making one myself… problem is I don’t even know where to start though, although I have plenty of foam insert stuff.
I have a lightweight case for my bass guitars that is mainly dense foam, I’m thinking the same material would work well.
Well I bought the Gator case in the end. It’s big, but I think still slightly smaller than the road case, plus the wheels are smaller and it has a luggage-type handle to pull along. All I need now is some foam, plus the extra gap I have will allow me to get a Pod HD in there plus loads of cables.
The only way I could see a case getting smaller is if it were a moulded ATA case in the shape of the Taurus - as soon as you create a square box shape it becomes huge.
