1125 Sample & Hold

Can anyone help me with the PCB layout of this unit?
I need some clear hi res photos of both sides of the PCB.
As these are impossible to find (at a reasonable price) I
want to build my own to go with my clone minimoog.

Many thanks

Keith

Two components that might be of interest for such a project: LF398N (sample and hold chip) and MM5837 (or MM5437) (white noise generator chip)
The LM398N is what I used to add S&H to my Korg Mono/Poly (triggered by either internal LFO or external/internal gate, sampling white noise exclusively).

It might help you recreate parts of the circuit cheaply and easily. Just add an lfo and you’re almost there.

The complete schematics for Moog 1125 are found here:

EDIT Oh yeah, I hadn’t noticed it was your first post here, yes, welcome Keith ! (thanks for the heads-up Kevin  )

Keith, welcome to the forum!!

Thankyou mr thealien666 and Kevin for the welcome, don’t know why I haven’t joined before, I get a bit swamped with forums and tend to spend money when I go on them

I have most of he components for the 1125 in stock and a source for the SG3281. I could just patch a modular S&H in but some amongst you may know what I’m like when I get a bee in my bonnet about a project

I will hold out to get hold of a foil pattern, I want to keep authentic.

Regards

Keith

Fwiw, don’t use a SG3821.
A LM/CA 3046 works just as well if not better.

Ahh, thanks Kevin, those I have a tube of
I have not yet looked further than the schematics but I now have all the components

Result!

So you have a sample or just letting us hold?

A very nice chap is lending me one, but I have to fix it, it’s a good trade
Will fire over an email v soon, seem to do nothing but work these days.

Good luck with the project! The foil is not real complicated, but I would think you would have better luck tracing an actual board, as a photo will only give so much info. Here is a photo of a somewhat beat up 1125 board that was scavenged for parts before I got it.

Can e-mail the high rez files if you think you really need them. To be honest, even at high rez it is difficult to follow those traces on the back side, with the green covering. Not impossible, but difficult!

Work, many thanks for that CZ, it’s going to be very useful. I am lucky enough that someone is posting a 1125 out to me today for a lend, it needs a service too but that’s all part of the deal. I’m going to love playing with it and will produce a faithful clone for myself.

Thanks again, a great help

KW

That’s meant to be a Woah not ‘work’ I am suffering from iPad spillchuck muchly these days!

Here is a link to the hi-rez photos of the scavenged 1125 board:

And also if you did not find this, the accessories user manual:

The 1125 is a gerat addition to any of the accessory compatable Moogs. Moog’s source of uncertainty. The only modification I thought was usefull was an external clock/trigger input, so it could be synced up to something like a sequencer. Also fun when scale quantizing the CV output, for driving oscillators in rythmic and tuneable phrases. Set to slow with the glide engaged makes for a nice random changing CV.

This is gold, thankyou so much, I don’t think I had any of that.
Very much appreciated your time and trouble

How many ribbons?
Building an Appendage to go with my Walking Stick

The Moog ribbon controller, or linear controller as it was known in the early days is a very interesting device. While Moog seems to be associated with having a piano type keyboard controller, almost every early system included a 955 linear controller along with the keyboard. Moog latter added a trigger/gate mechanism and updated to the model 956 around 1968. Still all the systems I,II,and III included the 956 ribbon controller as standard equipment. By simply selecting a switch the ribbon became the main system controller, and was the main source for sweeping the 901 oscillators for many octaves.
I still have the original 956 that came with my Moog, and a couple of the newer model 1150’s. Back in 1976, I got the idea to fasten the 1150 on to a guitar shaped body, as a custom Moog controller. Wouldn’t customize a vintage 1150 today, but back in the 70’s that was DIY fun!
Used red mahogany and added a few extra controls along with a breakout box.

Where can you find the 6 pin cord and S-Trigger plus the 2-1/4 in cables for an 1125 Sample and Hold Unit or the correct parts to make one?
