1.04 update crashes on both iPad and iPhone

As the subject says, I can’t start Animoog at all after updating to the latest (1.04) version. Tried disabling in-app purchases to no avail.
iPad 2, iOS 5.01
iPhone 4, iOS 5.01

Same for me… on IOS 5.01 Iphone 4

Hi all,

So far, everyone who is reporting a crash says they are using iOS 5.0.1.
One person has posted that he has no problems and is using iOS 5.1.1.

So, a couple of questions:

  1. is anyone having any animoog-crashing problems today, who is using iOS 5.1.1?

  2. is anyone who is using iOS 5.0.1, and having animoog crashes, unwilling to update to iOS 5.1.1? If so, why?

Thanks,

Amos

I’m not in ios 5.1.1 cause I’m in 5.01 JB!
And it 's a little complicated to update to an new IOS without to know if all my other Apps will well work.
But in the future I’ll update.
Normally Animoog should be compatible on 5.01 ? No?

At this time , I’ll stay with the 1.03…

aha, I understand. JB is your right as hardware owner, but we can’t officially support.

Yes, definitely! It should be compatible. Unfortunately I can’t downgrade my iOS now to test it, as you know… I do wish Apple allowed this, it would make life easier… also, you’d have no worry about upgrading, because you could downgrade if it didn’t work with some apps.

There’s another Animoog update coming soon, I’m working with the programmer now to identify what is the compatibility trouble with iOS 5.0.1, so we can fix it.

Animoog 1.04 working fine here on iOS 5.1.1, new iPad 3

Thx Amos for all your support

Thanks for the reply, Amos. No reason not to update, really, just being lazy. Is there any way we can help with troubleshooting in the meantime?

iPad autocorrect is working fine too, I see.

Oops…didn’t see that. LOL, still not 100% used to typing on the iPad yet

Will edit my earlier post to read Animoog, haha.

Cheers

1.04 kept crashing at splash screen until I updated to iOS 5.1.1 today which solved the problem. Pfew

Using Ipad 1

I loved AniMoog on my iPad2 (iOS 4.3) but since I updated AniMoog to 1.04, it won’t start. I wish I could undo that step!

It would have been helpful if Animoog’s AppleStore entry showed/required the minimum iOS version, like other apps do.

(As you asked the other guy: I never updated iOS on the iPad2 since I don’t have iTunes. It’s not available for Linux; actually I have an older iTunes on my other PC running Win2k but that does not support the iPad, and newer iTunes do not install on Win2k.)
Eventually I may find time and a way to update iOS, but not before my summer holiday, which means that Animoog will be defunct all summer and I can not use it on my holiday trip. :frowning:

Is there any way to downgrade Animoog to my previous version (1.0, I guess) which was running just fine on iOS 4.3?

Thanks,
Bernie

You could easily backdate/downgrade if you:

a. Have the previous version of the Animoog app file (Animoog.ipa)
b. Have a running version of iTunes which supports your device

You would then:

a. Delete Animoog from the device
b. install the previous version of Animoog by dragging the app file to iTunes
c. Sync the iPad

The trick is to keep/archive all older versions of the app before updating. On OS X, this is done for you through iTunes by moving the old app file(s) to the trash. You can then retrieve the file(s) from there and save them to a backup location for use in case an updated app is buggier than the the old.

Considering you neither have the Animoog.ipa file nor a version of iTunes which is compatible with your device, I’m afraid it can’t be done as the iTunes Store does not allow multiple versions of the same app to be available for download through the iTunes Store.

Works fine for me, IPad 3 latest os

I will keep that in mind next time I upgrade an important application like this one. The solution worked like a charm, thanks guys

Thanks to everyone’s input I was able to have a pretty trouble free update. Here is what happened (Ipad 2 running IOS 5.1.1)

  1. Backed up patches using antsev’s advice. From within Animoog I clicked on the export presets button. I fired up Itunes on my mac, and found my patches in the app file sharing page. (I put the zip file with the patches in a folder in my mac and unzipped them)

  2. Upgraded (using app store in the Ipad) to the new Animoog.

  3. The new Animoog crashed upon startup, so remembering what Moog support had mentioned, I deleted the app and reinstalled it from the app store on the Ipad. This time Animoog worked fine.

  4. I pulled the patches I had unzipped in my Mac into Itunes file sharing ( on my mac) and re-synced the ipad thinking that would bring my patches into the new install of Animoog, but it didn’t. So after scratching my head for a bit I remembered that next to the export presets button there is an import presets button in Animoog. Clicked on that and the patches arrived safely into the new install of Animoog!

Thanks to everyone, and I hope this helps someone,

Jerry
