Yeah, Cynthia basically makes all the modules that Bruce doesn't make. Together they have tons of stuff. 15 different filters and lots of other things. They're pricey but they're incredibly precise and very high-quality. The MOTM stuff looks great also, but I haven't had the pleasure of using any in ...

Yeah, I use my Voyager w/a small modcan system. I can pretty much use anything from the VX and foooger CP w/the modcan sytem. It all is standard +/-5 volts and words great. I like to slow down the V's LFO by modulating it w/Osc 3, and then take the output of that and use it to modulate my Modcan ...

Since this is a CP-251 thread, another quick thought is that w/the CP's CV mixer, you can "add" CV's, so you really have both options.

I think for the most part it replaces them. One exception is the Mod 1 Input CV. A CV signal of 0-5v will control the Mod Bus's modulation up until the maximum amount that is set on the front panel, so in a sense it subtracts from the related CV.

Yeah, the above SOS article in my earlier post describes all this in detail. But you still need a P2V converter, correct? I understand people who vocode on large modulars use this along w/fixed filters and env followers.

I also had the Electrix in my studio for a while and it was a great vocoder. I ...

The CP-251's LFO functions fine as an oscillator, espeically when you modulate it w/other CVs. I use it w/my Voyager, and it will track the voltage of the Voyager's keyboard CV output, so you can use it right along w/the Voyager's other Osc's.

Yeah, this is true. You really need the VX to modulate in the way that you describe. Only the source’s knob value modulates the new destination, not the source’s CV. I think Moog missed a golden opportunity here, but I still think that Pot Mapping gives some powerful modulation routings, espeically ...

On my long list of things to try I guess, and it would require some extra gear. I eventually want to purchase a Modcan env follower for my small Modcan system, but they don't make a P2V.

1. when sequencer stops Osc3 does some really low clics, like a midi sticky note, until i either switch it off or find the note & play it On/Off

Are you sure the On/External is not switched on? OSC 3 will "click" when it's on low because it's simply oscillating at a very low frequency. Also it ...

I thought about trying this myself after reading this:

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul00/articles/synthsec.htm?session=39a730ab2b8b33bfe9faf732017cc467

Theoretically, w/the VX, a pitch-to-voltage converter, and an envelope follower, you can vocode w/the MMV, or any other synth that provides ...

I remember hearing that Moog buys these keyboards from a 3rd party and the p-pressure is on/off only. Also the manual at one point specifies that it's on/off only. I don't think it has anything to do w/the software, but I might be wrong.

Also, isn't the MMV already a polyphonic controller?

Experiement! Try things like reverse-tracking the filter's cutoff frequency with the keyboard. (This mimics string instruments that lose harmonics as the length of the vibrating portion of the string decreases). Or experiment with making the filter's resonance increase as the cutoff decreases. Or ...

Yeah, that seems like a feasible theory. The interesting part is that as you turn the octave of OSC 3 to lower frequencies, the LFO rate increases. Also your patch does not make the LFO frequency increase as it rizes above zero, which makes it very useful. I've also tried to modulate the LFO w/Osc 3 ...

why does this work?

This works really well but I don' t understand why. It's basically modulating the LFO with a very high freuquency pulse wave, correct?

Slow down Voyager LFO and other tricks

Hi, here's some tricks and questions:

---Slow down the Voyager's LFO by modulating it with itself:

1) Connect the LFO output on VX351 to the back panel Mod2 input
2) Mod one bus: LFO modulates Filter or Pitch, full amount
3) Mod two bus: on/Mod2 modulates LFO
4) LFO Rate .8HZ or below
5) Wheel up ...
