I've always liked that higher-range "lead Taurus" sound used in Xanadu, Cinderella Man, Hemispheres, and other songs in that era. It seems like a teensy little almost-overlooked detail in the overall whole of the Rush sound of that time, but it adds a nice tasty bit of flavor.

Along these lines, does anyone reading here (at Moog Music or otherwise) have any information on the serial number runs, total number of units produced (I think I've read less than 2000 somewhere), etc... any information like that. My Taurus pedals have an assembly date of June 30, 1976 according to ...

Would be pretty cool.

I'm a big Taurus fan, my Taurus 1 is one of my prized possessions.

Mine still have the original QC sheet attached inside with a few workers' initials and dates indicated (late June/early July 1976).

I love my T1s. Really the only bit of true vintage gear that I own. There's just no substitute.

Mine doesn't have the foam inside either... mine are dated June/July 1976 so maybe it was indeed later models, or maybe someone took the foam stuff out of mine before I got them.

My Taurus has an interesting little problem: the "Variable" preset is acting a little wonky. Here are the details:

All the other presets (Taurus, Bass, Tuba) work fine, but the Variable will only sound if I play a note using one of the other presets, and then switch to the Variable preset in mid ...

Along these lines, if anyone has a pdf of the Taurus (original, not the II) service manual, please let me know. (I tried buying a copy online, but I never recieved it from the seller and emails sent went unanswered. Oh well.)
