VX-351 adaptor keyboard pitch problem

I just got a VX-351 and I installed the adaptor inside the voyager. The expander works fine, but the adaptor seems to disable the pitch tracking on half of the keyboard. All of the keys work, but the pitch doesn't get any higher after the first couple octaves. If I remove the expander, but leave the adaptor inside, the problem still persists. The only way to fix it is to take out the adaptor altogether. Do I have a faulty adaptor or do the newer voyagers require a different piece?
