It would take you a loooong time to get a sound out of the 200e! (and I mean just a bleep).
It comes with a nine page manual which doesn't explain any of the actual physical functions, it just talks highbrow about synthesis. it's limited in that you can't use an audio signal to control voltage and by all accounts, it actually sound quite "digital".
The first review of it will be in Sound On Sound magazine next month, Gordon Reid has Richard Lawsons demo model (rlmusic, uk distributor), I spoke with Gordon a few weeks back and he didn't have much to say about it (although he will try his best to give it a favourable review).
Looks lovely though!

They are both designed by synth gurus, and they both incorporate the best of the old and new schools. Also, both synths are brand new and the companies are still in buisness with live tech support, updates and repair.
i like the logic behind that
1. Rhodes Chroma (with a few spare voice cards and spare power supply!).
Nice weighted keyboard, velocity sensitive and has the ability to sound like a lot of different polysynths.
2. memorymoog (LAMM)
Not quite 'minimoog' sounding but close to it with the extra benefit of polyphony and a wider soundset.

Mal, I had hands-on experience with a Buchla Music Easel and a 200 modular five years ago. When I messed with the 200e at this past winter NAMM show, I knew what the modules did and I patched sounds out of it in a short time. I did my homeworkmee3d wrote:MC

Buchla need someone like you to evangelize the unit as they do little once you have actually bought one (at great cost). naturally I'm sure there are people out there like you, that are familier with the 200 and 200e music boxes . . it just had me puzzled for too long, I lost interest.
A completely different beast to a moog modular!

Well only 2 huh.... I currently own 6 and wouldn't want to be with any of them..
But if I were to only be able to keep two of the 6 I have I'd say
The Minimoog Model D and The Minimoog Voyager...

However, There are tons of synths I've never heard or laid my hands on.
Im sure if I had a Buchla I'd like to keep that. The MusicBox 200 systems look dope..
Also, I am awaiting a totally custom, gutted, mod-ed to hell Arp Axxe from a certain famous synthtech ( I won't name because he does not work on Arp Axxe's).. Its really not even an axxe anymore, just using the shell of an Axxe. It will be both visually and audibly stimulating. I have a feel I'm gonna fall in love with.. I'm dubbing the synth " The Nick Putrivox"

I 'll keep a Prodigy And Novation Ks4 .
Why : My father played on the Prodigy ,i played on the Prodigy ,just have it in my veins .
Novation Ks 4 because i used to have or play on almost every vintage synth you can find pretty easly ( not speaking about modular sys )
And novation can reproduce almost . .. Analog sounds from soft moog to Crispy Ms-20 sounds . 5 years of working on it and comparing with Moog Prodigy ,Ms-20 ,Poly 61,Arp axxe, Pro Dgx, Cs-15 yamaha and many others.

The most awesome thing about it is the sheer power and energy of the sounds it creates. It's a very flexible synth, and much more than just a sampler sequencer. To top it all, the disc library contains some original Frankie stuff!

I recently sold my PPG Wave 2.3 and Waveterm B. It was previously owned by Kajagoogoo . . . it had several floppys with all the sounds used in "too Shy" (what was thier other hit?).
Sad to see it go but I couldn't take it to the States.

i've always wanted a complete roland system 100 (not the 100m) and a voyager would be nice
but to choose two of the synths i've used i'd choose a roland jupiter 4 and a yamaha DX 100
I have used and own a DX7 but the 100 is just a bit cooler i think, i don't know why but it just submits to my will more than the 7 and the sounds when messed around with and put through effects can be really pleasing.
This was the first synth I ever used and the first complete track i ever did was done with a DX100, Boss digital delay and flanger, a roland tr 606 recorded on an old tascam tape 4track portastudio.
My jupiter definitly sounds better than anything else i've ever used but the oscilators are really unstable and out of tune beyond the range of the tuning slots so i can't get them all at the same pitch, this is really anoying when trying to play melodies but doesn't really matter for the crazy effects it can do. But when it decides to play properly (once in a blue moon) it's really something.
