Moog Slim Phatty
Re: Moog Slim Phatty
You know, when I first looked for a Voyager performer, this was in like 2006. THe list price on sweetwarer and everywhere else was like somewhere around 2695, BUT it came with a free gigbag (100 dollars or so). Then all of the sudden, the prices everywhere on the net reflected $2895 with no gig bag., but the price on the Moog website was like 3100.
I am fairly certain that the dealers got about 800 profit on the sale a the 2695 price.
How do you think novamusik can get away with those low prices? You know they are still making SOMETHING or else they would be giving away the store.
So 799 sweetwater price for the Phatty RME? Nah, Ill bet its cheaper than that. Maybe 599 or so from Nova or something like that by the time you shake hands on one.

Congratulations Moog! Can't wait to fill up my studio with a bunch of these...
Re: Moog Slim Phatty
a real good bargain!
Is anybody informed, if it is possible to use a few SP polyphony with the LP?
In comparison to the LP, are there any differences except the keyboard and size?

Re: Moog Slim Phatty
I think that the new model might appeal to a lot of people. The addition of a MIDI Thru port is nice and decreased weight is a godsent too.
I'm not getting one personally though. The same problems i have with my keyboard little phatty remain on this model and i'd rather concentrate on my other analogue gear. I'd be more interested if a model was released that improved on the original more.
If i didn't have an LP keyboard already, i'd definitely buy one though...

Re: Moog Slim Phatty
Hmm... They took the SP page down again... Luckily I got to listen to all the samples and read the manual and specs before they did. So it's still not official then. Ha ha. Poor Moog Music - they must find us a pain in the a** sometimes.
Re: Moog Slim Phatty
haha yeah.
You know it's listed at both Sweetwater and Novamusik right now for $795
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PhattySlim/
A couple of things I thought though...why did they change the buttons? curious if they're plastic or rubber...
Also why they didn't add the CV outs, like on the upgraded LP models...
Otherwise I'd love to get one coupled with my Tribute

Re: Moog Slim Phatty
I dare say that is the best damn product video I've ever seen. A lot of people have said this is a re-hash - It really isn't when you put it in context with what the world of analog synthesis has been becoming for the last 8 years or so. It has been ALL about miniaturization, modules, and low cost entry points to drive leverage into what traditionally has been small market with a larger market that was somewhat out of reach. Moog has taken a great product and made it smaller, more affordable, and easier to integrate into small studios, all at no sacrifice to the sound or power of the instrument. Kudos to everyone in involved in bringing this the market, it's brilliant!tagirov wrote:Well: http://www.moogmusic.com/littlephatty/? ... t_id=21398
BTW - In regards to the button thing - They shrunk it... the LP wouldn't fit into a rack if you took the side panels off. By them shrinking the buttons and consolidating spacing a bit they've managed to make what I would consider to be a rather chunky instrument into a tidy 3-space (looks to be 3 space anyway) rackable synth.

Re: Moog Slim Phatty
Ah the button thing makes total sense, plus the new ones look like shiny pretty little sound making jewels
