Moog Rouge or Rogue?

As some of you may have seen on my other posts, I run a gear website (http://www.alternative-electronics.com/) where I list the music equipment used by various electronic musicians. I get the gear info from interviews with artists or directly from the bands themselves in most cases.

I've come across a number of bands who list the "Moog Rouge" in their studio setups - is this simply a misspelling of the Moog Rogue or is it a different synth? I can't seem to find much information about it since both "Rouge" and "Rogue" come up a lot in search results...are there just lots of people spelling the name of the synth wrong or does the Rouge exist as well?

I'm mainly asking so I can know if I should create a Moog Rouge users page in addition to the Moog Rogue page I already have (http://www.alternative-electronics.com/ ... usic-rogue).

Thanks in advance!

Taylor

Mine spells Rogue.
Why would Moog issue two synths with almost identical names ?
It's most likely just misspellings (did I get that right?).

I can say with certainty that it's the same synth. Obviously some people write things down for album notes and if it doesn't instantly look wrong the printer just prints it. I'd guess interviews are worse since the interviewer is not going to stop the conversation all the time for spellings.

You do have a point in that sometimes the same synth accurately or inaccurately goes by a few names as well.

It reminds me that the Prophet 5 sometimes wrongly gets called a Prophet V (roman numeral) but they are the same. The Prophet VS is something totally different and a correct name... and many people either don't remember or don't know the brand is Sequential Circuits.

It's the same synth - i.e. Rogue. These people spell it the way they play it.

Moog introduced the Rogue to try to educate people how to pronounce `Moog' - i.e. not Moooog like a cow, but rhymes with Rogue. The result? - people who have a Moooog Rouge.

Thanks for the input everyone. Guess I will file them all under "Rogue".
