A super chorus/stringer chorus unit...KILLER!

This is something none of my other chorus pedals do right.

This ensemble effect would make me have to buy a Chorus
Moogerfooger even though I own lots of chorus pedals.

The stereo In/Out is pretty important. If all your pedals are
Mono In/Stereo Out then you really never get to hear the
panoramic space created by any pedal that precedes it.

All the CV Ins/Outs are sexy too.

An analog chorus effect is based on a delay circut--since there is already a versitile delay MoogerFooger, is a dedicated chorus necessary?

Perhaps instead of a dedicated chorus MoogerFooger, what we might ask Moog to do is add features to the MF 104 Analog Delay to make a single delay unit capable of richer chorus sounds. For example--what if there was a mode in which the 104's bucket brigade chips worked independently of one another with their own delay times and feedback settings? In addition to SHORT and LONG delay modes, what if there was a DUAL delay mode? Moreover, what if the delay times could be independently modulated by CV inputs (i.e., design a delay with a SWEEP IN input like that of the MF 103? This might produce a much thicker sound than what a single CV modulated MF 104Z is capable of right now.

Perhaps these features can be implemented along with features necessary to produce flanging effects (i.e., shorter delay times).

I don't think I can get excited by a dedicated chorus Fooger. But a new delay Fooger with expanded capabilities would be really neat!

Anyone have any info on build quailty/customer service from synthoma? How easiy is it to get imported (what taxes and import charges are there)? I've never imported gear.

I think the company is just one guy (from what I could find). Can be either good or bad. Considering the price of the Fooger delay, I doubt moog could produce a similar unit any cheaper. I don't know if Moog would even consider a production run of a unit that uses vintage chips. The internet list price is about $560 without taxes or shipping. Depending on quality, service, and import issues there may be no need for a fooger as the unit is available. If I could find trustworthy answers to such questions, I'd love to support a small company making such a niche piece of gear.

Though my gear wish list is deep, I've been keeping an eye out for a stringer. Since my set up is mainly for performance, the elkorus would be ideal. Since, I'm usually trying to supply my habit on the cheap and I do not currently use much CV (lots of knob tweak modulation), I'd be happy with a used V1. I wonder how many were produced?

While a dedicate Chorus would be nice, you can create a very ncie chorus effect with the MF104 and CP251. I posted this video about a year ago that I thre together in a few minutes .

Hi Brian,

I think it's safe to say that most MF-104 owners are aware that
they can modulate the delay time with an LFO for a simple
Chorus effect. But this thread is about a specific Ensemble effect
that simply can't be emulated with a single delay line.

Listen to this link. It's not the most musical example but it
effectively shows that there are several qualities of the synth
sound that are uniquely changed by the Elkorus:

I do agree that I would be unlikely to buy a Moogerfooger
Chorus if it was just a single analog delay modulated by a
single LFO. This thread is asking for much more than that.

That clip sounds great. I think it's a good idea. They could hit the synth and guitar pedal markets simultaneously w/ an ensemble-capable "super chorus" pedal, as they do w/ the other MFs.

The 104z is not doing a good chorus anytime soon, using cv on the delay time goofs up the time range, delay times can't get short enough, and the range between chorus before audible delay is TINY, very difficult to pull off properly with it.

Moog should really consider a 3 BBD chorus/ensemble pedal if they can source the chips, it'd be amazing.

I can't speak for the full capabilities of the product but I was scanning SonicState.com the other night and I found a NAMM show report (from 2006 I think) in which Doepfer shows his BBD module. Seemed really interesting and had 2 sec of delay.

I don't have the link handy but get to SonicState, click, goto videos (tab on the right), choose Doepfer, then scroll down to "Dieter Doepfer BBD module" near the bottom.
