i have an problem with my lp when i try to use it with any daw it seems!!

i am running m powered pro tools 8.04 with a m audio firewire 1814 sound card on a new imac with os10.6.4
i have tried different leads of all combinations power midi etc so i know my hardware is fine
i have tried this set up with my nord electro and it works perfectly, i have read the manual and i am a 100% positive i have all the settings in pro tools correct but!!
when i try this with my lp i get big problems like weird midi stuff going on i.e. notes holding and lps sound completely cutting out
i also tried it just with a usb to midi connection with ableton running and the lp did the same thing

when i use the lp on its own its totally fine, i have even controlled it with my nord and again it works fine,

i have know idea what to do next please can any one help!!

I blame apple ;) the headphone jack (a proprietary 10 cent part) on my ipod broke, so i called them to see about repairing it, they told me they don't do that, but would give me 50 bucks off a new one. I'm glad moog's customer support is so much better than their's. microsoft suck's too though, I'm not trying to start a mac vs pc argument. I dislike them both equally, but for different reason's.
