New MuRF - a little troubleshooting with the envelope

i have just received my moogerfooger mf-105 MuRF pedal
along with my ep1 expression pedal.
unfortunately, i've run into a snag seemingly right out of the box.
i was using the murf for about 15 minutes, running a juno 106 through
some of the walkthrough settings/patches in the manual. that was great.

then i got the good idea to hook my ep1 into the envelope control (with the knob set at "5"). even better; this was working excellently. i then tried the ep1 in the other parameters with equal success.

after a few minutes, i decided to unhook the pedal and just go back to controlling parameters with the knobs. this is where i noticed the problem.
the envelope knob seemed to be stuck on a setting that sounds "1", but i can't be sure. (fast attack, almost no decay - just a click.)

results were the same when running otherwise unaltered guitar through the murf as well.

it does not seem to be responding to the envelope knob at all, whether in pattern or lfo mode. i retried the ep1 as the env. control and that picked it up fine again, but still no response from the knob.

is this common? any clue? point me in the right direction?

i'm not sure if somehow inserting the pedal initially locked the env. knob,
or programmed it to perpetually be zero, but i highly doubt that the knob is physcially disconnected from the electronics within, as its received no jolt or trauma and has been living calming on a flat surface for the first 5 hours
out of the box.

otherwise, its been awesome.

any advice/suggestions are appreciated.
thanks.
