drum and synth studio setup

Greetings All,

This is my first post here. Picked up an OS a bit ago. I reviewed a post on this forum with a number of studio photos. I am wondering if there are any drummers/percussionists on here that can share studio setup tips?

I guess I want to improve the usability of my studio, make it more efficient. I need to be able to start and stop recording w/o getting up out of my seat when I am the only one in the room.

The solution I have come up with is to have my mac by my synth and my Akai controller by my drums (DAW=Ableton). Then I can have auto dub on and don't have to cut loops.

Does this seem like a viable solution? Any other options? Thought about MP-201...I am going to need a bigger room if I get much more equipment.

I always like seeing pics of studio setups so if anyone has a similar drum/synth arrangement please posts a couple images.

Thanks

I also play a MIDI drum kit. After a bit of rearrangement I arrived at this setup.

The PC keyboard is in a sliding drawer under the Voyager. I can reach it from any of the keyboards or from the drum kit (to the left)

Hey MC Thanks for the reply. So how did the "rearrangement" process go. I am 3 days into that. I can't stand having wires all over the place. I want to have things going in a click or two. Much more than that and it starts to effect the creative process. Any suggestions on best practices for setup? Can you fit other people in that circular area?

I have an M-Audio iControl which is a control surface of sorts and well integrated into Apple Logic. I doubt it will work with Cubase or Ableton and it's NLA. But it's small and handy.

Early last year, I picked up a Novation SL MK II and it's very very flexible and has a bit of software that integrates into all of the big DAWs. The SL "Zero" might be what you are after (however, as compared to the iControl, the buttons are somewhat small not that you cannot bind a drum pad to start/stop??) Just a thought to look into.
