Just got my LP Stage II today, and I love it! One question for fellow owners - the pitch wheel seems like it has some kind of "damping" on it - its a tad slow returning to home when released, as if there were something besides a standard spring connected to it - is this normal? I can get used to it, I just have never felt a wheel respond like this. Thanks.

Mine doesn't do that, I don't think, but that's the problem with perception.

Just thought id append this thread since its a relevant question.

My pitch wheel is fine, but mod wheel is very "loose". To the point of where if I mount the LP at an angle it moves slightly out of place with gravity & vibration of playing the keyboard.

Is there a method to adjust the tension on the Mod/Pitch wheels? Possibly an internal screw? thanks

Miamigroove, fellow Phatty owner Voltor said we just have to remove the bottom plate from our LPs, and the wheels should be easily adjusted with an allen wrench - I just have not found the time to tear into mine yet, and I want to PM Amos for any critical details/tips before I proceed. The LP I auditioned at Guitar Center had the same mod wheel issue you are describing, so it sounds like familiarizing ourselves with occasional adjustments would be helpful over the life of the synth, as I don't plan on shipping mine back to Moog until its dead in the water & needs a complete rebuild - I'm having WAY too much fun with it right now!

Well I attempted to adjust the pitch wheel today - big mistake. I removed the side panel & could see a screw through the center of the pitch wheel. I thought it was simply the axle for the pitch wheel, and thought if I could just loosen it a bit, I could fix the damping issue. The overall tuning is now off, and the pitch wheel calibration is fubar. I will pm Amos for help, and hopefully I don't have to send it in - the very thing I was trying to avoid to begin with. Garrr!! At least I learned something - just because I can set up my own guitars & basses, that does not mean I should be poking around inside of synthesizers.

OK, I returned the screw to it's original position, performed a PW calibration per the manual, and the tuning/pitch bend range is back to normal. However, the wheel action issue persists. I'll play the hell out of it for a few more weeks, and if it doesn't "break in", I'll bite the bullitt & send her back to Moog for repair. I just wish the wheel felt more like the one on the Voyager I sold - it was super-fast to return to home, and it had a really stiff spring that felt great.

I played a voyager at a store once the pitch wheel on that was much stiffer than on the phatty. It almost felt too stiff, but I must leave. . .
