Simple question re: MP-201 and MIDI clock output

Hi there,

I've been considering buying the MP-201 for a while but I need to know a bit more about the tap-tempo and MIDI clock features.

Specifically, I have a KP3 Kaoss Pad which will accept MIDI clock in. Can I tap tempo on the MP-201, which will subsequently send a MIDI clock signal to the KP3, keeping everything in time live? Similarly with any other pedals/laptops with MIDI Clock-in?

Many thanks- and congrats on a fantastic range of products.

Yes, what you do on the MP201 is set up an LFO channel (let's say channel 1), with LFO sync = Tap Tempo. Then, in the Edit mode, go to page: ALL, and set MIDI Clock output = Ch1 (or whatever channel is your tap-tempo LFO).

Now, when you turn on this LFO channel it will send a MIDI Clock Start message and start sending MIDI Clocks at a rate of 96 clocks per LFO cycle. When you turn off the LFO channel, the MP-201 will send a MIDI Clock Stop message and will stop sending clocks. Use tap-tempo to change the rate of the LFO, and the rate of clock output will change along with it.

Cheers,

Amos
