This is sad my carrier signal is no longer connected to the audio path! i just sent moog an email so hopefully this is easy fix. anyone else ever have this problem?

never happened to me, but i would ***assume*** that moog uses a shorting jack on the 'carrier in' input. so, the internal carrier is connected to the ring mod via a signal path that travels through the 'carrier in' jack. when you plug an external carrier in, the internal one is diconnected mechanically.
long story short, it's probably something in your 'carrier in' jack that isn't making contact and needs to be bent (slightly) back in place.

As a temporary workaround, you could try plugging a patch cord from carrier out to carrier in. If this doesn't work then the problem might be more serious than an open normalled jack, as Radium mentioned.

Yeah the carrier out to carrier in was the first thing I tried. Figured hey its a little ghetto but it will do, and when that didn't work I was like oh man this can't be good...

Can you patch the carrier out to a speaker? Or an external oscillator to carrier in? That could rule out either a dead oscillator or ring mod circuit.
Also you might want to fiddle with the mix control and/or CV input.
Hope it gets better dude

Yeah carrier out still works, but the mix knob basically acts as a volume knob
