Just seen a posting for an unnamed "Moog Keyboard" for $100. It was the sellers uncles who passed away. The anticipation for what it might be is keeping me from sleep :D :D :D :D

Fingers crossed

Flogflip: for real? That's an amazing deal! Almost as good as my Jupiter 6 deal... which I got in trade for a Korg X3 digital synth that had been given to me. So, cost me nothing... and both parties were way happier after the trade! The lady who'd had the Jupiter, just wanted to play church music on it... said it was "too weird sounding!" ...The Korg was perfect for her.

Meanwhile, if your Jupe is fully working, I recommend you hie thee hence to http://www.synthcom.com at once to get yourself the Europa mod. It is mandatory equipment for any JP6, in my opinion. Makes it a fully modern MIDI synth, with the world's best arpeggiator.... totally worthwhile.

congrats!

Oh and I'm pretty curious about this $100 Moog, too....

:( I think somebody beat me to it. I never got a call or email back :(

I guess it's inspired me to be on the hunt for more amazing deals. My friend takes a lot of gear apart and does a lot of circuit bending and has been finding all kinds of pedals at Goodwill etc. Old synths really look like junk to the untrained eye.

This is what I'm counting on haha.

I love it when someone tells me, "my parents have a cheap old keyboard in their basement"

Have you ever noticed how people that don't realize what these are always refer to them as "cheap and old"? Haha.. I almost feel guilty buying things from people like that haha..

i always dig around in thrift shops for records (probably bought close to 70 albums from salvation army this year) and keyboards and other instruments. found a casio cz-5000 for $40 and a wurli organ with 3 manuals bass pedals drum machine and leslie for $45. im praying for the day i come across a minimoog or something of equal fantasticness 8)

Sorry for bringing up this thread. I recently had a similar story. A guy told me about an old man selling an old Korg synthesizer, that's named "Moog" for 200euros. And it was a Minimoog  But another guy took it just a couple of hours before me.

Don't feel badly about it; think of it as going to a new home with someone who's gonna give it the love and attention it deserves.

Or think about it as someone who realizes what it is and will sell it for 5000 on ebay next week.

No, my problem is that if I saw a MiniMoog at a garage sale for 100 bucks, I would feel like I stole it from them if I paid that much for it. My guilty conscience would be wanting me to tell them, hey, you can probably get 2000 for that.

Then I see this guy on tv who saw one of the first corvettes rotting in some guys barn and who never told the guy. I guess you have to be a capitalist in situations like these.
