A few questions about vintage Taurus I's

Post by Cole Gaskins » Mon Aug 10, 2009 12:11 pm

Hey guys, I'm about to receive my first Taurus synth and have a few questions about it.

Where can I get info on dating the unit by serial number?

Does Moog work on vintage synths and if not where in NC is a good place to take it for service? I'm in the piedmont section of NC about a 3 hour drive from Moog.

Thanks,

Cole :D

There may be a yellow inspection tag inside the unit with a date on it.

Moog does not service vintage synths. Can't name any shop in NC, sorry.

Along these lines, does anyone reading here (at Moog Music or otherwise) have any information on the serial number runs, total number of units produced (I think I've read less than 2000 somewhere), etc... any information like that. My Taurus pedals have an assembly date of June 30, 1976 according to the sheet that is (amazingly and thankfully) still attached inside. 1976 being the first year of production, I often wonder which number mine was in the production line.

I just want to point out that 1976 is not the first year of production for Taurus pedals. my set of Taurus pedals has a factory sticker ("inspected by...") which is dated August of 1975.
