Envelope & Trigger Quirkiness

I've noticed some quirkiness in the way the envelopes work, especially with multi-trigger switched on. In all the digital synths I've used, multi-trigger always restarts the envelope at the beginning when you hit a new note, but on the MMV it doesn't quite work like that. Depending on where you are in the envelope on the current note, if you hit a new note it might still continue in it's current stage of the envelope. For example, if you have a slow attack on the filter envelope with multi-trigger, if you hit another note before the attack is finished, the envelope will continue rather than retriggering; you have to wait until the envelope is finished before it will trigger again.
I haven't been able to tell under what conditions a note will retrigger or not. Sometimes, if you entirely release (ie. take you finger off) one note and hit another, the new note continues with the previous envelope rather than restarting a new envelope. It seems in some instances, you have to wait for the release to finish before it will retrigger.
If you have a AE model, try preset 35 “Slow Sweep Bass” and change it to multi-trigger mode. No matter what you do, the envelope won’t retrigger until it’s at least past the attack.
Also, another issue with the envelopes: even if the sustain is set to 10 on both envelopes, when you have the External/On switched on, the volume and filter gradually decays. I thought it should never decay with these settings.
Is this normal behavior or is it something with my MMV? Do you know the exact mechanics of when a note will retrigger the envelope?
Thanks!
Mark
