Right Audio Out to Oscillator 3 Problem?

Does anyone know if hooking a TS cable from the Right Audio Out jack on the Voyager into the Audio Input jack routed to Oscillator 3 on the Voyager, and using the Frequency Knob is dangerous for the circuitry? I like the sound, but I don't want to damage my Voyager. Thanks in advance for your input/advice on this connection configuration.

What do you mean by routing the audio input to osc 3 - is this a software configuration can osc 3 be frequency modulated by the audio input?.
If it can, thats something new to me but very pleasing to hear. If this is what you mean then the answer is don't worry , it wont be damaging the synth at all, as the voltages used are so low.

No, its not software. I have a TS audio cable running out of the Voyager's right audio output that runs right back in to the external audio input. Maybe the external audio in can't be routed to OSC 3? I haven't used this configuration but once because I don't want to hurt the Voyager. A friend who owns an original Mini recommended doing it. It's kind of a feedback loop. Your advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

This is an old trick done on the original Model D minimoog . . take the low inpedance output and feed it back into the audio in. basically this takes the output of the mini and re-inputs it into the mixer stage (after the Oscillators, so you can't effect Osc3), where you can then increase the "External" audio back into the filter creating a soft warmth . . too much and it will distort!

On the Voyager the right stereo output is actually the output of the second filter so doing this will fundementally change the sound of the Voyager (making it sound more similar to the original) as you will not be able to sweep between the two filters and the unit will only be mono audio out.

Otherwise it works pretty much as it did on the model D . . . I run my Voyager like this and in 2 years have never encountered any problems other then some clipping which can be controlled by the "External" knob in the Mixer section.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up for me. I appreciate it.
