USB Interfaces. What do you use?

I don't know if this subject has been posted before, I looked for something like it but didn't find much.

I was wondering what most of you LP owners use to do OS updates and the like?

Mac users would use something else I suppose. I was just curious because If all I need is USB-Midi interface for OS updates, what is the cheapest alternative? Those 10 dollar cords all over Ebay or what? I'm very interested in what everyone prefers to use.

Hi,
I got many problems with a chip USB MIDI interface under Windows XP. The Windows MIDI drivers are horrible. Then I bought an used EDIROL (Roland) USB MIDI interface with own drivers and this one is working perfectly.
Have fun,
Rudi

Thats also the one that I bought. Just a box and Midi in and out similar to the UNO.

Works perfectly, though Ive never been able to really do anything with it other than import a bank pf presets!

I too, use the M-Audio UNO. Also, I use a USB cable. The USB function is great for sending patches, but it doesn't work when updating an OS. So for future updates, you'll still need an M-Audio UNO. The lowest price I've seen is at RadioShack.com, believe it or not.

Yeah, I bought some brand X from best buy and it worked just enough for me to get the OS loaded up, but I couldn't get my presets out, so i lost maybe a dozen or so, No biggie. I took it back and told them it didn't work so I got my money back. I think i'll go for the UNO now.

Don't use the best buy cables ever though. ever.

I use Best Buy USB and Fire Wire cables. Those are made really well. Never had a problem with them. Of course, they aren't the chaeapies.
