After a few weeks of checking eBay multiple times daily, I finally found someone willing to ship a used moogerfooger CP-251 to Canada. The auction listed the CP-251 and rack-mount kit for $300 USD. Not the best deal, but better than what I've found before. The listing pictures showed two CP-251s but explained one was broken and was not included in the auction. I asked if the seller would sell the broken unit and we agreed on $50. I am pretty handy with a soldering iron so I thought I might have a chance at fixing it.

They arrived in the mail today. I tested the working unit first and everything checked out. I then moved on to the broken unit. I plugged in the 9v power at the back and there was no life. I then tried the other power connector on the top. Well, it turns out it works perfectly fine! Apparently the seller didn't even try the other power connector.

I opened up the "broken" CP-251 and found the back plug had disconnected from the PCB. I plugged it back in and now both power connectors work perfectly.

So I got two CP-251s with the rack mount kit for $350 shipped. A good deal in the end. He didn't have the side or back panels, but that's fine because I plan on keeping them rack mounted anyhow.

So let's hear your stories of awesome deals on Moog gear.

I got my LP Stage (original) w/the Moog hard shell flight case for $750 total on Ebay. I thought about selling the case and making the deal even cheaper, but it is a really nice case and could come in handy.

My used FreqBox was $199. Found it on http://www.musicgoround.com/

Bought my AE Voyager new for $2250. Bought the ATA case for it (the big, sturdy one that is no longer available) for $150 new. Bought these from a dealer.

Bought the MF101, 102, and 103 each for $185. They were all new from the same dealer.

As I said before, there are deals out there if you are patient.

I made good use of the Microsoft Live/eBay cashback deal when it was at 30%. I got my Little Phatty as an open-box buy for a discounted price and then an additional $200 off of that. I couldn't not buy it, you know?

About 15 years ago I picked up a near mint Moog Source for around $280 (if I recall correctly). I actually made a profit on that one when I sold it, although in retrospect I should've kept that synth.

I've gone over the numbers on the other synths in a previous post. But the recent Moog stuff, in the last few months, was: Used Voyager Signature edition for $1,700 (eBay)and a CP-251 and VX-351 pair new for $521.00. (Dlr)

I got a good deal from my dealership here in Oz, it was the LP2 for AU$2100, then a free gig bag, computer editing software and the soon to come CP-251, a pretty darn good deal if I say so myself.

$275 for my MF-102...I know now that there's better deals out there, but at the time it seemed like a good deal.

Ordered my Old School from Digital Village just before Christmas - Paid £1517 for it + I got the CP251 included for free. The price has since shot up to £1999.00 without the CP....

So all in all....I was in the right place at the right time.

ordered a LP Stage I from novamusik when the free cp-251 deal was going on, priced at $1050. Turns out they ran out of Stage Is, so they gave me a Stage II instead.

So I got a CP-251 and a LP Stage II for $1050+tax.

Better yet though, I already owned 2 CP's, so I sold the new one on Ebay, and recouped 300.

So in the end, after a few months, I got a brand new LP Stage II for $750+tax. :D

$750+tax. :D
It's funny how the world works sometimes because your CP-251 was one of the ones I tried to buy on eBay but you didn't want to ship to Canada (assuming your eBay name is CTRLSHFT also). If not for that I would never have gotten my good deal!

I had a friend who talked about his Moog Rogue a lot. Later on when we shared a studio, I asked him why he didn't bring it. He said it was broken. I said let's fix it. He then said he would give it to me if I fixed it... deal! It cost me a half hour of my time to soldier a few broken points and the cost of a power supply. I sold it a little while back for $350.

I started buying MoogerFoogers because I found the Big Briar 12-Stage Phaser Fooger at a used guitar shop for $175.

I also adopted a Fooger that was painted white, then the paint was wiped off (along with all the Silkscreening) leaving a white tinted black face with no markings. It was the Ring Mod and I had bought it for $180. I couldn't handle a Fooger being in such a condition. Moog sold me a new faceplate, then I sent it off to a new home with a friend of mine for a very slight profit. Win/Win!
