Still running OS 2.5 on performer

I have an older voyager performer and don't have the hardware upgrade.
I'm still running OS 2.5 and was wondering if I could upgrade to 3.4 without getting the hardware upgrade. I've been thinking about getting the hardware upgrade but its kind of expensive and I'm not to eager to ship the voyager and worry about it getting damaged. Having the extra preset banks isn't that important to me. Other than the extra banks is there a reason to get the upgrade?

Thanks
JC

From the OS 3.4 .pdf addendum file :

Welcome to the Voyager 3.4 Operating System! O.S. 3.4 adds important new functions, features and enhancements to the Voyager, including:

- Individual Local ON/OFF assignments for the Keyboard, Pitch and Mod Wheels, Aftertouch, Touch Surface, Pots and Switches.

- Enhanced pot resolution when multiple pots are adjusted at the same time.

- LFO Sample & Hold capability for the Touch Surface, plus four selectable Amounts (OFF, 25%, 50%, 100%) for the X, Y and A axis.

- Global Reset of selected parameters (Category, Pitch Bend, Pedal Amount, and Touch Screen LFO S&H)

Keep in mind that you load the banks/firmware as following with your MIDI SysEx software program : B -> A -> C -> D
