Stumbled across a cool MP-201/LP patch tonight

I didn't really understand the utility of the gate input on the LP (and I'm not sure I do yet), but I found a cool patch by putting a saw wave into it. When I'm not pressing the key the notes go on and off with the saw wave (it probably doesn't need to be a saw wave, that is just what I happened to use). However, when I am pressing a key, the note sustains. Pretty cool, but it gets even better.
If you set the expression pedal to control the rate of the saw wave, then you can increase or decrease how often the note is turned on and off. With the koto-ish LP preset that means that I can simulate tremolo picking by controlling the saw wave rate with my foot. Very expressive, as I can play a melody and accentuate specific notes with the MP-201 controlled gate.

And that, my friend, is EXACTLY what the gate input is for. If you had a CP-251, you could run the S&H into the gate input for a random pattern. This is useful for science fiction computer blips. Coupled with the MF-102 with the Audio out from the LP going into the audio in, and the audio out going to the Audio in of a phaser or wah, the capabilities of the gate input are endless!
EDIT-Try it with the Arpeggiator going.

The MP-201 has a S&H. Come to think of it, it has 4 S&H 'circuits,' so I could control pitch, gate, and two other settings independently. Hmm . . .
