Phatty Arp

Hi guys,
Just and just got my Moog Phatty stage 2. Great sounds and only had a short time with it but I can see we will be very happy together. Ahh...
Although I dont seem to be able to trigger the arp. I have found the arp settings, tuned it on in the master window, and set it to sync from the midi input, and set it to loop, but still no arp. the manual did not seem to have anything on the Arp. I know this is a new feature to the stage 2, and perhaps that's why I have not found anything in the manual.
I also have spent all day staring at Pro Tools so I may have missed the bleeding obvious, and there is nothing like introducing yourself to a tech forum half asleep. Your help would be most thankful.
All the best E.N

Make sure you get the manual (or the addendum) for the Stage 2. That goes into detail about how to make it work. You can find the addendum on the Moog site.
I suspect you simply aren't activating the Arp. With preset mode selected you push on the value knob to start the arp. If latching is enabled, then you push the Enter button to start latching.
If you are doing both of those and it isn't working, then I'd guess that the MIDI clock is the issue. I'm not sure how to sort that out.
Hope that helps,
Bryan

Well I did say I was tired. I looked at the bottom of the box to find extra detials manual for OS 2.0. I will have another read, and get to the bottom of this, and lt you know how i go.
On another issue, does the USB take pref over the midi ports? My virus snow works a little that way so it maybe a midi problem I am having. But like i said I will keep you posted.

If you are NOT using MIDI to trigger the ARP, make sure that the Arp is set to LFO. Also, for some users, the USB port is problematic for sending and receiving MIDI messages. I never had a problem, but I don't utilize MIDI often. Make sure that your LP is set to whichever MIDI channel your software prefers. That's all I got.

Yea I think I am my own worst enemy sometimes. I see a port and want to have it plugged it in. I did the same thing with my Virus snow, and it's either Midi or USB. One or the other. Two midi pulses can cause you problems, and the whole KISS idea works for me. Keep It Simple Stupid! and that me I am talking to.
After finding the other book in the bottom of the box all is good with the arp/latch etc. Mood sounds great, very happy with it. Thanks for everyones input.

Hi electronicnoise!
Nice to see more Moogs in the hands of musos down under... cheers!
About the MIDI ports, both the USB and standard MIDI exist independently on the Little Phatty. You can choose to use one, the other, or both simultaniously... select only one for MIDI in and only he other for MIDI out... merge MIDI from DIN to USB or vice versa... it's pretty flexible really.
You can even send two different MIDI clocks to the LP at once, one via USB and the other via DIN. Set the LFO to MIDI sync and do that, if you want some really weird glitched-out LFO action...

Your right this does look really flexible feature. My set up is all linked via my computer sending midi to my MPC, and I am taking one side of the MPC Midi to LP, and the other to my elektrons. I have a virus snow that I straight from Computers USB, and I have fond that to be the best way to run the snow. It would be nice to have the LP USB to control the snow also, yet I was worried the whole chain was getting a little convoluted. I have my ION set up through my 002 rack to play the snow, but it would be cool to be able to flick from one to another.
Have you tried this with the Moog software? Still yet to look at that side, and I am sorry Bob, but this seems like a bit of a rip $$$, and should kind of come with the unit. The Australian dollar is bleep house with the US so we will be holding off on that till things pick up.
Anyway enough chat, let turn this puppy on and see how it sits with the others. Feel free to check out our Oz beats.
