I bought the mp-201 a couple of days ago and I can't get it to sync to my laptop's midi clock correctly. After a couple of bars, the darned thing falls off tempo. I've had this problem on LFO and gate mode. I've tweaked waveforms, midi settings, and utility settings, and checked the firmware with no avail.

All my other midiclock sensitive devices work fine. Has anyone else had this problem?

Another stupid question, has anyone been able to run midiclock through the mp-201 to other devices?

I emailed you earlier, but there is a known issue in the current firmware version where the MP-201 can lose sync if it is connected to your sequencer via the pedal's USB MIDI connection. This does not happen if you are using the standard MIDI input (DIN) jack on the MP-201. Our programmers are working on the USB MIDI code right now in order to correct this issue.

Regarding passing MIDI sync through the MP-201 (using MIDI merge), the MP-201 does not merge clock data, so it can't pass MIDI clock. According to my research, most gear which does MIDI Merge does not merge clock data, due to the potential for a high density of clock messages to cause timing issues with other merged MIDI data.

Could this cause the MP-201 to freeze? I got a blank screen from the MP-201 a few times last night.

I reckon it could; we know that the USB MIDI is not 100% bomb-proof yet, so if you were having any issues while using the USB connection then USB could very well be the culprit. I don't think you'd see the unit freeze otherwise. If you have the opportunity to try a similar session using regular (DIN) Midi connections to the MP-201, I recommend giving this a try; I suspect you'll see none of this awkward behavior. Again, we're working on getting the USB totally solid right now, so I expect these issues will be resolved shortly.

1) if you go into Utilities mode, you should see the firmware version displayed as "1.01/###" where ### is a firmware build number. What number is displayed here?
2) have you tried using the hardware sampler as MIDI clock source, and if so, how does it work? Any different, or the same?

my Multipedal is version 1.01/209

I've encountered a more troubling problem with the pedal at the moment, but have decided to start another thread since its not related to the midiclock.

I have not yet had the opportunity to connect it to a hardware sampler. To be honest, I don't really trust the ableton midiclock. I'll get around to it next week, and let you know how it behaves.
