LP Stage: Poor Packaging

UPS dropped off my LP Stage today. To my horror, Musician's Friend had neglected to double box it, so it shipped in it's poster-thin retail packaging.

There are no signs of cosmetic damage on the LP, but the box and foam inserts are destroyed.

This raises a couple of questions/concerns: What would be the best way to determine if the innards of the LP are damaged: Autotuning, note calibration, etc?...Should I just return it?

Why does Moog package these things so poorly? Honestly, these things should be packaged in a shipping rated carton, not a pretty retail box. It is inevitable that an incompetent retailer will ship it in this flimsy factory packaging.

And would it kill Moog to seal the box with "Moog" tape dots so unscrouplous retailers can't just close a return up and sell it as new?

I was not displeased with the packaging of my LP, but which came from an independent authorized dealer. I suppose the cardboard for the LP box itself is a little bit thin for a 30 lb package, but if it's double-boxed it's pretty sturdy.

PS I stopped ordering from Musicians Friend after an unpleasant experience, and with a little research you can find friendly authorized dealers that actually care about customer service, and will knock a couple hundred bucks off of what huge retailers can do.

Precisely. The Moog box is intendid to be shipped double boxed. Mine was not. The Moog packaging would be fine and dandy if there was some way to ensure retailers do not ship them without first putting them in a box....But there is not

PS: No other dealer had the LP Stage I in stock, and could beat $1049.

So how 'bout it? Anyone know what might indicate the integrity of my LP's analog circuitry after being man handled in a flimsy box?

I've tested the LP "drop" many times. The only thing to consider is cosmetic damage.

If something is wrong with the sound perhaps a cable may have been unseated but you could throw an LP out the door of an airplane and the least of the damage would be an unseated cable
