Dead CP-251...

Hi folks

Fried my new CP-251 I'm afraid, and would be grateful for any help. Plugged the wrong power supply into it the other evening by mistake (9V centre negative, not positive) and now the LED stays fully on, and the only output is a very faint, slowly rising signal. Had it apart; no visible damage, but it's nearly all ICs anyway. Bought if from Thomann (Germany) as there's no UK supplier at the moment, and I don't really want to send it for repair in the US unless no choice. Just getting a new PCB would be another option. Any ideas?

Cheers, Andy

Betcha won't do that again! But seriously, in my opinion, the best way to go about fixing your CP-251 would be to replace the board. More than likely, the IC's are fried. Question: I have never been inside my CP-251...is it surface mount? If not, perhaps you could replace all the IC's.

Thanks for the reply. ICs are surface-mounted, so no chance of replacing them. Have emailed MM about a new PCB - we'll see! Too damn right I won't do that again - everything's labelled and colour-coded now!

I had a friend that did that with his BRAND NEW Freq Box. THe input led stayed on constantly but there was no sound. Id highly reccomend contacting Moog and getting an RMA number so that they can fix it for you.
