PianoBar

Post by chopsticks » Sat May 10, 2008 8:15 pm

Where's the PianoBar forum gone?

Is the PianoBar now discontinued?

Are repairs/maintenance still possible?

I was wondering this as well. I am curious if the piano bar can work with a CP70...?

I presume the PianoBar IS now discontinued(?)

Moog, does that HAVE TO mean that the forum also goes? Couldn't it be kept as a service to owners, who might benefit from some of the existing content or be able to get help through the forum?

Incidentally, I've found some threads from the forum on Google - archived in the first half of Feb.

Doesn't Moog respond to questions on this forum?

Not enough sales volume, I guess.

Well, Ryan from Moog's service department told me in September that I could still get Piano Bar memory cards from Moog. So at least they're still being serviced! :D

Hi guys,

Yes the PianoBar manufacture has been continued, but support is ongoing. A few dealers still have new units in stock, and Moog will still honor the 1yr factory warranty on these units. So, if you have a PianoBar or are thinking of getting one, you can count on full support from Moog.

As for the forum, I presume it was closed due to a perceived lack of interest... not sure why the archive would be taken offline though. I'll ask.

Cheers,

Amos

Not to be a wise guy, Amos, but I can only assume you meant DIScontinued? Just clarifying. :?

Hi Amos,

Thanks for the reply. That would be great if the forum can be left online and active for the sake of customer support. While checking around, any chance you can inquire about using the PianoBar with a Yamaha CP70? As you may know, it has 73 piano keys. I'm curious if it's possible to mount it somehow, and if it is possible to disable the remaining keys beyond the physical 73 present on the CP70 (but exist on the 88 key CP80 and on most acoustic pianos). Since the height of the enclosure changes, I'm not sure if this will cause the sensors to register the outer 'phantom' notes as on/off/etc.

Thanks

err, precisely.

regarding use of the PianoBar with anything less than 88 keys, I don't think it will work. The PianoBar is one size only.

I asked about the PianoBar forum and it is gone into the ether. Sorry about that... :(

Well I for one am glad you continued it. Can anyone tell me why particular keys wouldn't register or would "stick" when calibrating the pianobar?

Hi all - after years of trying, I finally scored a pre-owned PianoBar in excellent shape, and I love it. However, I'm trying to figure out how to add an auxiliary pedal for the purpose of cutting out the synthesized sounds when I just want a piano solo. I'm pretty sure I saw Herbie Hancock do this with his PianoBar in 2004 or 2005, but I can't find anything in the owner's manual that explains how to do this. Any ideas?

Also, I thought I read somewhere a few years ago that additional library cards with thematic sound families could be purchased, such as a Church Library, a Jazz Library, etc. Is that true, or did I dream it?

Eric
