there was someone on the forum who was going to build these and sell them - was it you? if so how did your sales go and any intent of making more?

I've built about a dozen in three different models. I've sold two in the last week of the present model and another one is up for auction here.

You know, one of the grossest things I even heard came from my friend who happend to be an MOOG tech and I think HE learned it from David Sancious (Bruce's original keyboard player). He said that the best way to keep your ribbon lubercated was with nose grease. Yep. Nose grease. And a good reason for using it is because most people have an ample supply.
