New host for website??

Post by thewaag » Tue Mar 13, 2007 5:00 pm

Well, I see that the Moog Forum is up and running again--it has been down all day.

New Host???

I was anxious to see if people were having trouble installing the new OS for their Tributes. When I saw that the website was down I thought that it might be a bad sign of something more omnious.....

Glad it is back again.
Thanks Bob!!

Sorry for the down time

Post by moogmusic » Tue Mar 13, 2007 5:25 pm

Waag,

Sorry for the downtime, I'm the administrator of purplecat networks inc, the current hosting company for moogmusic.com.

There was a powerfailure at the data center this morning around 4am when the fuse in a transformer blew. Few datacenters keep spare transformer fuses on hand as they are not typically considered a point of failure.

Luckily, the datacenter did have one on hand and had power restored within 45 minutes, when the primary moogmusic.com came back on line (around 5am).

Moogmusic.com's forum however was not so lucky. It suffered some data corruption in one of the tables and it's taken some time to get back on line.
We also went ahead and performed some upgrades during the down time to make it more secure and hopefully a little faster. Soon the designers will have it looking like the old moog forum again.

Again I apologize for the downtime, and hope this answers any questions you might have had.

Sincerely,

Peter Brezny

Hey Peter,

Thanks for letting us know what happened.

This is the age of full disclosure, but you went above and beyond the call of duty in letting us Moogers know what transpired.
Thanks Bob!!

Hi folks,
maybe I'm a little bit stupid - but I can't find in the forum the button to jump back to the moogmusic site.

There's a billion files to a PHPBB.
Give 'em time.
I'm glad the rest of the files made it through. :)
