Messenger Expression CV compatible with Spectravox

If I buy the Messenger I'd like to use the Program Out CV from the Spectravox
to go into the Expression Input CV of the Messenger.
However, the Spectravox can go up to 8 volts unipolar CV output
and the Messenger can only accept up to 5 volts CV unipolar.
Would the Messenger just clip this CV from the Spectravox
or is the CV from the Spectravox out of range and would hurt the Messenger's electronics?
